The Men’s Junior Pairs were held on 10th May in beautiful bowling conditions. Three teams entered which meant it was played as a Round Robin tournament.
In the first game Adam Batty (S) and Iraia Peni overcame Richard Cowles (S) and Brett Connell. Richard and Brett then went on to challenge Ken Sterne and Brian Hoy (S). This was a fiercely contested match and eventually after 18 ends it was a draw. This necessitated an extra end which Ken and Brian won by only one shot. A fantastic game to watch!
The final game then was crucial and Adam and Iraia played Ken and Brian, with both teams needing the win to take out the championship. The victors after a tense battle were Brian and Ken.
Congratulations to all players as there were some marvellous bowls played – well worthy of finals. Many thanks to Erica Whittaker for running the event.
