On 1st March, competing for the title of Men’s Singles champion a field of 22 competitors took to the rinks in fine weather. There were some close matches in section play and the time limit became a factor in some games with a few players not reaching 21 points. The games were played in good spirit with 9 players qualifying to compete in post section play on the following day.
The weather was also fine and as the day went on got very hot. The experienced players eventually overcoming their more junior counterparts leaving Grahame Law and Robert Evans to battle out the final. Due to the heat this was postponed until 7th March.
The day was perfect for bowling – sunny and still and lovely conditions for the spectators who enjoyed the display of skill shown by both players. Congratulations to Grahame Law who took the title and will represent the club at the Champion of Champions on March 29th at Otaki. Well done, Grahame!
A special thanks to Chris Hogan for taking great photos of the play.
