We had our I.C. Mark Christmas Hams Gala on Saturday December 6th with 20 teams taking part on a cloudy day which made for comfortable conditions to play in. The Levin Christmas Parade came by in the afternoon as well so there was definitely the Christmas spirit in the air, with fire engines, stilt walkers, nativity groups, pipe band, brass band and lollies being thrown out.
Each triples team played the first two games on either the Tiger or Dales green then played the second two games on the other one. There were some close results but eventually we were able to give out twelve hams to the top four teams. DB had generously sponsored us by donating six hams and the club put in six too. A lucky non-winning team, consisting of Ken Hayward, Dave Bond and Steve Tustin, won a chicken each.
Following the prize giving there was a raffle of more than two dozen baskets of goodies donated by members and a cash prize donated by our Patron Margaret Griffin.
Altogether, a great day was had by all! The top 4 winning teams were:
- 1st: Phil Stirrat, Graeme Mathie, and Heather Stempa.
- 2nd: Jan Lilico, Clare Hack and Lynne Cherry.
- 3rd: Bruce Prescott, John Michael and Ian Mahoney.
- 4th: Les Galloway, Liz Galloway and Joburg.
