The Mixed 2-4-2s Pairs Championship was largely played on April 8th and 9th, with the final deferred until April 15th.
On the first day, being the hardy lot that we are, we started play about an hour after a mini tornado had passed through Levin. Fortunately our green was fine, however some of the carpet covering the old pétanque area lifted and was blown against the fence. Thanks to a few volunteers it was glued down properly later in the week.
Not everybody wanted to continue in the windy conditions so a couple of teams dropped out. At the end of the day we still had 10 qualifiers for the post section play.
By the end of the second day we had whittled our way down to our finalists, Dianne Short and Brett Connell who would play Brian and Nicole Hoy on the 15th of April.
After a good final in fairly windy conditions the winners were Dianne Short and Brett Connell. Well done!
